Josh Quigley has been brewing in South Carolina in one way or another since the mid 90’s. In 2007 he and Michael Benson opened Quigley’s Pint & Plate in Litchfield / Pawleys Island, SC. The brewpub has eight beers on tap including Longboard Lager, Shakedown Wheat, Peach Wheat, Neck Red Ale (the area is sometimes referred to as the “neck”, short for the Waccamaw Neck, or it could be for Red Neck – this is the South!), Swamp Fox IPA and a Nut Brown. Seasonal offerings include Irish Stout, Summer Pilsner, Billy Bock and Rye Ale. Josh sneaks in other seasonal offerings so you can stumble across any number of different styles when you visit. Josh started his brewing career owning Charleston’s first Homebrew supply store Charleston Beer Works, and from there became the original brewer for the first Mt. Pleasant brewpub T-Bonz Gill and Grille. He moved on to become the Head Corporate Brewer for the T-Bonz family of restaurants, opening and brewing at the Liberty Steakhouse & Brewery in Myrtle Beach, SC, opening another Liberty in Highpoint NC, and consulting and opening Vista Brewing in Columbia, Texas Cattle Company in Macon, GA (brewery now at COAST in Charleston), and Aiken Brewing. Josh has had a hand in many of the breweries that operate in SC, directly or indirectly, so when traveling through the Pawley’s / Litchfield area of SC make sure to stop in and have one of his fine creations.
